Project Description

ICC was founded in the aftermath of the First World War when no world system of rules governed trade, investment, finance or commercial relations. And Belgium has been one of the five countries founding the ICC in 1919. Since then, ICC Belgium has acquired a prominent place in the Belgian and global landscape, as the Belgian enterprises’ champion in today’s global economy.

This is why ICC Belgium draws on a strong partnership with the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium – FEB-VBO, with the umbrella organisation for all chambers of commerce in Belgium – Belgian Chambers, and with the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation – CEPANI. This longstanding partnership been formalised in 2007 by the creation of a ‘Non Profit Organization ICC Belgium’ – ICC Belgique ASBL & ICC Belgique VZW – and the recognition of each organisation as a founding member of the newly created legal entity of ICC Belgium.

In Belgium as in the more than 100 countries, ICC’s founders acted on their conviction that the private sector is best qualified to set global standards for business, without waiting for governments to fill the gap.

They called themselves “The merchants of peace.”
