ICC Arbitration users and practitioners are invited by CEPANI, with the support of ICC Belgium, to participate to a luncheon with keynote speaker Andrea Carlevaris, Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration®. Mr. Carlevaris has played a central role in the revision of the ICC Rules and in the introduction of new practices aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency and ethics in ICC arbitrations.

The ultimate aim of the latest revision of the ICC Arbitration rules is to further increase the efficiency and transparency of ICC arbitrations.

Applied since 1 March 2017, the revised rules provide that expedited procedure rules automatically apply to all arbitrations with amounts in dispute below US$2 million, subject to the parties’ power to exclude their application, and to cases involving higher amounts on an opt-in basis, allowing disputes to be resolved on a very expeditious and cost-effective manner. This provides an effective answer to the legitimate concerns of the business community as to time and costs.

Other changes introduced by the revised rules comprise the possibility for any party to be in a position to ask the ICC Court to provide reasons for its decisions, such as decisions on challenges of arbitrators (without need to seek consent of all of the parties, as required under the previous Rules), prima facie jurisdictional decisions and consolidations.  This is an increased measure of transparency and accountability to ICC arbitration users.

It will be a pleasure seeing you again!
